Creating Branded Reports

Why Brand Your Reports

If you're presenting analytics to a client, slapping your firm's logo on the deliverable isn't vanity — it's professionalism. It reinforces that the insight came from your advisory work, not from some random SaaS tool they could subscribe to themselves.

Every PDF export from CohortGenie can carry your firm's identity. Set it up once and forget about it.

Setting Up Your Branding

  1. Go to Settings. Click Settings in the left sidebar of your workspace dashboard.
  2. Upload your firm logo. PNG or SVG, minimum 200px wide. This appears in the top-left corner of every PDF report.
  3. Set your accent color. Pick a hex color that matches your brand. This colors the report header bar and chart accents.
  4. Enter your firm name. This appears below the logo in the report header. If you leave it blank, just the logo shows.

Changes save automatically and apply to all future PDF exports from that workspace.

Generating a Branded Report

From the Dashboard or Heatmap page, click the Export dropdown in the top-right corner and select PDF Report.

CohortGenie generates a 4-page report:

  • Page 1 — Summary Metrics. Total revenue, active customers, average revenue per customer, retention rate, and period-over-period changes.
  • Page 2 — Revenue Waterfall. New, expansion, contraction, and churned revenue broken out visually.
  • Page 3 — Cohort Retention Heatmap. The month-over-month retention grid that shows exactly when customers drop off or grow.
  • Page 4 — Insights. Key observations and trends pulled from the data.

Your client's company name pulls automatically from their QuickBooks data — you don't need to type it in.

Tips From Practice

I used to spend 30 minutes formatting Excel charts before every advisory meeting. Now I generate the PDF, drop it into an email, and move on.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Date range matters. The PDF reflects whatever date range you have selected on the page when you export. Double-check it before generating.
  • Firm branding is per-workspace. If you run a Firm workspace with multiple clients, the same logo and colors apply to all client reports. That's the point — consistent firm identity across the portfolio.
  • No branding set? The report still generates fine. It just won't have a logo or accent color — plain but functional.

Reports are generated client-side and downloaded directly to your machine. Nothing is stored on CohortGenie's servers.
